My mission is to promote the importance of overall health and longevity in fitness. I began exercising in high school to build strength and muscle. This culminated in me participating in my university's bodybuilding competition during my senior year of college. That experience taught me a lot, and it made me realize there's more to physical health than "looking good." Now in my 30s, I still understand strength to be the basis of all physical function, but I make sure to pursue it intelligently, and I place an equal value on joint health, mobility, and quality of movement. In fact, I workout now as a way to continue to age gracefully. Ultimately, I believe exercise is a celebration of the body's ability to move, and being able to move more fluidly/powerfully/confidently is absolutely worth celebrating.
Juan's mantra
A client should train with me because I have well-rounded experience and I'm Ivy League educated. This includes specialized training in combat sports and hospital-grade knowledge of nutrition. In fact, I was a certified boxing trainer through the esteemed Gleason's Gym in NYC, and I'm a registered dietitian. As an experienced trainer, I offer more than prescriptive programs. I save you time by helping you avoid common mistakes, and I'm personable enough to keep you motivated over time.
