The face of fitness is ever changing. The 80's were about step class aerobics, the 90's were a mash of heavy lifting and treadmills, and for the last 20 years it seems like fad diets and cool new workouts are the norm. I got into fitness to bring it back to life. The reason we exercise should be to keep us healthy. If you hold a few extra pounds, that's not a big deal if you move often and aren't in pain. Alternatively, why would you want a beach body if your knees hurt constantly, and you're scared to pick up your children because your back could give out? We need to bring it back to regaining mobility, building proper strength and making you confident in taking on any physical activity that's put in front of you. The biggest breakthroughs with my clients in the last 16 years haven't been incredible feats of strength, or triathlons completed, they've been the client that can finally take their shirt off without shoulder pain, or the client that isn't scared of stairs anymore.
Bryan's mantra
My primary focus in my career has been injury rehabilitation. That's not to say that I don't promote weight loss, but I have found that when clients were rid of their chronic pain, they would then tend to gravitate towards healthier food options. I've always focused on perfecting movements for each client which greatly reduces the chance of injury moving forward. I build trust with my clients. I'm proud to say I'm still training the first client I ever had, 16 years ago.
