I think having a commitment to a trainer/outside program for yourself leads people to adhere to the work more so than trying to keep track of everything yourself. what sets me apart from most trainers is 1. I have personal experience training to lose weight for extensive periods of time 2. I've trained and competed in multiple sports including soccer; basketball, power lifting, brazillian jiu jitsu, and boxing. and 3. i place a very large emphasis on following a diet as well as creating a diet that a client can actually adhere too without putting themselves through hell.
